…. Why are the Blue Mountains called like that? There are a lot of eucalyptus trees in the area and when light hits the oil coming from these trees, a blue haze appears. Hence, the name Blue Mountains.
…. There is no alcohol sold in normal supermarkets, you have to go to a special liquor shop or BWS (beer wine spirits).
…. There is Aldi in Australia. And they also have many brands we have in Germany. AND they sell wine in their shops.
…. Traffic lights go directly from red to green light with no orange light in between.
…. Food is sooo expensive here.
…. Tap water is chlorinated and therefore tastes awful but Australians don’t seem to mind.
…. It is only allowed to drive 110 km/h on freeways.
…. All power outlets have an additional switch to turn it on or off.
